the origin of sport

bodies in motion must meet —
flesh as point system,
skill as divisive equalizer 
bringing the luckiest of the unlucky
to (some sort of) field 
where they meet against another
with (usually) non lethal weapons
where they face up and
(sometimes) come away 
without wound, injury, the tax of war,
and (sometimes)
someone leans down
puts their lips near an enemy on the ground
whispers something holy
and helps them back up again
