Monologues available on my site!

this one's for the actors and people who like reading monologues

A common symptom of Being A Playwright is making characters say things, at length, by themselves or to someone else who mostly just listens as it happens. You know, monologues.

I actually like writing monologues, it’s one of my fave parts of theatrical writing, followed closely by describing an impossible thing in stage directions and loudly proclaiming to whoever questions me that figuring it out is someone else’s problem. As a result, I’ve written quite a few plays with quite a few monologues of quite a few lengths.

Awhile ago I rounded up a good amount of my monologues and added them to my site for use by actors in auditions. This week, I added a couple more from a new play I’ve been working on. Feels like a good time to let y’all know/remind y’all that they’re available!

A fuzzy pink and yellow background, with a portion of a light blue curving dashed line in the bottom left corner. In the bottom right corner, also in a circular curve, is the text "NEW MONOLOGUE." In the center of the image is the following text: "...Sometimes when I’m in my drawing room... Sometimes when I’m in my drawing room I look at the broken mirror over the mantle. The mirror I broke. And I think… if I could transform myself, who would I be? ...Does it have to be this way?" -Lermontov from "The Great Impresario Boris Lermontov Would Like To Invite You To Dinner"
A fuzzy pink and purple background, with a portion of a light blue curving dashed line in the upper right corner. In the bottom left corner, also in a circular curve, is the text "NEW MONOLOGUE." In the center of the image is the following text: "There are plenty of things I don’t like about myself. I pick at my lips. I can’t seem to stop picking my lips. I use chapstick, I slather them in chapstick, I have fidget devices, I go to therapy well, I went to therapy. I plan to go back to therapy. When I can. But I still pick at my lips. I’ve done it my whole life." -Noa from "The Great Impresario Boris Lermontov Would Like To Invite You To Dinner"

Feel free to check them out and use them in auditions as needed! If you’re interested in recording or using one in a performance capacity, just respond to this email - we can work something out.

If you’d like some more context on any monologues or to read the plays they’re from, you can download most of my work from New Play Exchange. If you don’t have a New Play Exchange account, no worries - reach out and I’ll get you a copy.
